Home Repair Services Confronts the Foreclosure Crisis

The national foreclosure crisis is hitting West Michigan especially hard. Thousands of local families are at risk of losing their homes. Just in the last year, Kent County foreclosures soared 74.1%, a number reminiscent of the Great Depression.

At Home Repair Services, we are deeply concerned about the impact of foreclosure on individual families and our entire community. But concern isn’t enough. We’re also taking action.

Our Financial Counseling program helps about 600 families each year – the largest such non-profit program in Michigan. We work directly with families and lenders to prevent foreclosure whenever possible.

Business also benefits. Lenders save up to $50,000 in related costs for each foreclosure avoided, according to a recent study.
