2008 Awards

Congratulations to Debra Bierema of Kentwood, who won our 2008 Resourceful Homeowner Award.  Using loaner tools and surplus building materials from Home Repair Services, and with the help of a “remodeling” coach, Debra transformed much of the home where she had lived for 30 years.

Over the years, Debra has taken 19 different repair classes at Home Repair Services, with topics ranging from drywall installation and doorknobs to window glazing and insulation

Debra’s former coach says “When I saw Deb take hold of that big floor sander without hesitation – and throw the electric cord over her shoulder like a pro – I knew that nothing around the house would really ever scare her again.”

Debra says “Without my coach, I may never have had the confidence to take on all of these projects, especially while working full time.  Now I’m just so proud of myself and of my home – I feel like my home is much healthier.  It’s also a great place for my grandchildren to visit! I love to save money by doing it myself!”
